Real Food for Real People
About the Market Basket Program
The Produce portion
for 2010 of the Market Basket CSA
Program runs in three segments throughout the year: A 22-week
Summer program that begins on June 26, a 10-week Fall/Winter program that
begins in November , and a 10-week Spring program that we are half way through
now. The Market Basket program provides a great opportunity for
you to support your community and its local businesses, and at the same time
enables you to enjoy fresh, delicious, and sometimes unusual varieties of
produce. Baskets are provided weekly, and the summer CSA has included such items
as beets, red cabbage, carrots, Italian green beans, summer squash, red skin
potatoes, red veined sorrel, cucumbers, slicing tomatoes, orange blossom
tomatoes, watermelon, onions, eggplant, lima beans, Lettuce blends, romaine,
bell peppers, acorn squash, many herbs and many more items.
Also, look for recipes
each week to help you expand your kitchen repertoire and make full use of your
local produce bounty.
The Eggs/Dairy/Meats
and Additionals portion of the Market
Basket program continues every week throughout the year. We offer
eggs, milk, cheeses, butter, pastured chicken, grass fed beef, sausages, bacon
and ham, free-range turkeys, etc - over 60 items at last count. All
sourced from local, sustainable farms, such as Springfield Farm in Sparks.
These items are ordered by you as you want them, by email each week, and
we have the foods ready for you during distribution times.
Pick- Up Days and
Times
Members have an option
of picking up weekly on Saturdays, between 8am and 1pm, or Monday
afternoons, between 3pm and 6pm. Pick up location is at A Cook's Café, at
911 Commerce Rd. in Annapolis. Once signed up for the Market
Basket program, you will receive a confirmation email from Sarah which further
explains pick up information, at which time you will have an option of
requesting Saturdays or Mondays as your pick up day.
Payment and Fee
Information
There are three fee
involved with the Market Basket Program: 1) The
Membership/Administration Fee, 2) The CSA fee if you select to receive
produce, and 3) a "pay as you go" fee for items ordered in the Additional's
program.
Payment is accepted by
credit card, check or cash.
Membership
Fee: This is a
necessary fee that helps cover the organizational costs of the Program. The
annual membership fee of $110 is assessed twice a year ($55 each time) to
attempt to defray the overhead costs. It is assessed at the beginning of the
winter season, and then at the beginning of the summer enrollment.
Note: Some recent members in the Spring CSA have already been assessed
the fee. Most everyone else, and all new enrollees, will be assessed the fees.
If you have a question about your membership status, please send Sarah or me an
email.
22 Week Summer/Fall
CSA Fee: The cost for
the 22 Week Summer/Fall 2010 Local Foods CSA is $495.00 ($22.50 per week). This
is payable upon enrollment.
Additionals
Order: Most of you also
take advantage of the great selection of the other local things from local,
sustainable farms. This includes your meat, dairy, and eggs, as
well as any seasonal items that become available (i.e. raw honey and fresh
floral bouquets). Order sheets are sent out each Tuesday and
Friday. This portion of the
Program is pay as you go. Most often we keep a credit card
on file, and charge the day before distribution. For a complete
list and prices, please send a request or give me a call.
